Idle Finance turns unused system resources into coins you can redeem.

introduction

Most machines sit idle for hours a day with processing power going nowhere. A handful of products try to buy that capacity back, and almost all of them are built for engineers.

project details

The tools for using idle machines are written for people who already understand them.

So the people who would benefit most never switch anything on. The products already doing this open on technical metrics and charts, then ask for a long setup before giving anything back. That reads as opaque to someone deciding whether to let software run on their own machine.

Solution

I put the switch before the numbers, and made it the whole interaction.

One on/off control is the primary interaction, and on first run it tells you whether the machine qualifies at all. Earnings read as a growing coin balance rather than abstract metrics, and the motion is closer to a game than to infrastructure.

result

The first screen answers whether you qualify and what you have earned.

Framing value as a reward rather than a system metric is what makes people willing to try it at all. One clear action replaced the whole onboarding flow, so nothing stands between opening it and knowing where you stand.

People let software run in the background only if stopping it takes one tap.
